The elders of Vintage21 are appointed by God to shepherd and lead the flock of
Vintage21. It is our desire to lead this Church through this culture in a way pleasing
to the Lord. Leading is not always easy nor pleasurable but as God continues to work
through us by washing his church with His word the Lord is presenting himself a radiant
church. The elders of Vintage21 convene regularly to discuss matters of sound theology,
direction for the Church, and discipline with love for the people at Vintage21. We
wish to preach, teach, and counsel to the glory of God. These matters are not taken
lightly but with utter importance as we look onto all areas of Vintage21 Fellowship. The
provided help from the deacons of Vintage21 continue to enable us to do what God has
commanded. Our desire is that we would be a church that strives to live in accordance
to the Bible and enjoy all that God has given to his people. For more on the subject of
eldership, read this abridgment of Biblical Eldership : An Urgent Call to Restore Biblical
Church Eldership by Alexander Strauch.

Tyler and his wife Kimberly moved to the Raleigh area in 1997 after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He worked with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at North Carolina State five years before starting Vintage21. After much prayer and guidance, they felt God’s call to begin a church in downtown Raleigh. Vintage21 began in the Fall of 2002 with a small group of people, and currently has over 1200 people every Sunday. He holds the position of Southeast Regional Director for the Acts29 church planting network. Tyler also is the founder of Advance the Church, a cooperative nondenominational movement to assist in the planting and revitalization of local churches.

Having played in bands growing up, Matt’s love for music brought him to the thriving music scene of the Raleigh/Chapel Hill area in 2000. When considering the job as Worship Pastor, Matt knew Vintage21 could be a church where all would be welcome to explore Jesus Christ. Since then, he has committed to leading worship in a way that honors God and draws people into His presence. With several campuses to Vintage21, Matt continues to train band leaders who desire the same. He lives in Raleigh with his wife, Christin, their two daughters and their dog, Margot Tenenbaum.

God has generously provided life experiences to grow Pastor Nate’s heart for the local church and it’s connection with Christ redemptive message. He sees the local church as the tool Christ set up to bring redemption to humanity. Arriving in Raleigh with Vintage21 in November 2005, he quickly discovered that Vintage21 was a church on a mission to protect and push the gospel — a mission Nate has longed to join his entire life. Pastor Nate and his beautiful wife Morgan have two sons, Battle and Knox.

Taylor and his wife Claire have called the Raleigh area home for over a decade. God led them to Vintage21 five years ago, and they have been amazed to watch God grow His church in the Triangle. After being involved in leading a Community Group with Claire, Taylor received some serious prodding from the existing elders to take over leadership of the Community Group structure as part of his training to become an elder with the church. Taylor is also a recording engineer and runs a recording studio in the Raleigh area that caters to musicians in the Triangle music scene. Taylor married the coolest woman in the world, Claire, and they have an amazing son named Tavener (aka Sir Awesome).

Derrick and his wife Rachel moved to Durham in 2007. Since then Vintage21 Church has been a beautiful environment for gospel centered healing and restoration in their lives. With several years of ministry experience behind him Derrick’s passion for the mission of God drove him to be part of the planting core of the Durham Campus. Currently he works a full-time job in production/manufacturing and enjoys engaging with people of varied beliefs. A mid-westerner often wondering how he ended up in the south, he loves the fact that there is a hockey team around to remind him of his youth.
