Vision

Vintage21 is a church of seekers, followers and doubters who are learning to follow and worship Christ.

If you spend time with us, you will hear that a lot – it is a central idea to how we want to interact with the community around us. It is the vision of Vintage21, because we desire Vintage21 be a place that reflects Christ’s love. All are welcome, with no prerequisites of church background or prior belief. Bring your faith and your doubt, your joy and your tears, your praise and your selfishness. We will echo Christ’s call in Matthew 11:28 for all to come to Him.

Know, Live, Build: The Mission of Vintage21

We believe that all of life, including the life of a local church, has been gifted to us so we can know Christ and make Him known. Scripture promises that when we lift Jesus up, He will draw people to Himself. When a local church lifts Jesus up, it will continue to grow as long as there are people in their city who do no know Him. This presents a huge blessing and a tremendous dilemma. The blessing is beautiful and obvious, we have front row seats as we watch Jesus restore our city. The dilemma is daunting; as a church grows how do you care for the people? The church has answered for “the care question” over the past 25 years by instituting programs: men’s ministry, women’s ministry, youth groups, single’s ministry, senior ministries and the list goes on. When a church has that many programs, it is forced to spend it’s resources—people, time, money—on maintaining. Therewithin lies the problem. We cannot focus inward and maintain when there are one million people around us who do not know Christ. We need a simple plan to keep our focus on lifting Christ up. This plan should guide all that we do. The plan for Vintage21 is Know the gospel, Live the gospel, Build the gospel.

Know

Gospel simply means “good news” and the good news is that through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, you can have real and eternal life. We want to know the gospel. This has several meanings. Vintage21 will strive to be a church of strong theology, where all of its owners and regular attendees are able to tell the story of Christ and take people to that story in the Scriptures. For each of us personally, it is important to focus the mercy of Christ onto our own souls and live in the freedom that Christ brings. Finally, it is essential for our community to know the gospel so well that we can point our friends, peers and family to the mercy of Christ.

Live

Vintage21 is becoming an Acts 2 church.

And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. Acts 2:42-47

To accomplish this, we need deep friendships with people who know Christ and are seeking Christ. At Vintage21, we foster the development of these deep friendships through Home Groups. We are becoming a large church but the larger we get the smaller we must become. To care for each other, to really know what is going on in someone’s life, to offer help, to share our needs and to point each other to Christ, we must live the gospel with one another in community. We invite you to live the gospel in a Home Group.

Build

The good news of the gospel is that you have been restored. This gives you value, purpose, direction and wholeness. However, your restoration is not for you alone. We have the great calling and great privilege to help Christ bring people to Himself. God does not need us but He gifts us with the opportunity to build His Kingdom. We get the privilege of sharing grace with our friends. We have the honor of helping people overcome brokenness, poverty, addictions, divorce, loneliness, all through the power of Christ. At Vintage21, we believe all people are gifted by God to build and if all people do not use their gifts, we will be much less than God intended us to be. We need you to help accomplish God’s calling in our church. Do not sit on the sidelines. We need you to live sacrificially so people can meet Christ. Please serve Christ by building the gospel at Vintage21.
