Journey 101: Gospel Class

Goes from 7 p.m. Monday to 8 p.m. Monday

The Bible comes to us primarily as narrative, as a story. Rather than trying to impose another genre onto the Bible, we should accept it the way it is. We have to indwell the story, to read it as our own story, in order to understand how the Bible has any authority over us. And, to really understand the whole story, we need the whole story that God has revealed to us. The Old sheds light on the New, and vice versa. The other narratives competing for our allegiance are comprehensive, but if we fragment the Bible, we have no alternative, comprehensive story to counter the others, and eventually the biblical narrative gets co-opted into other stories. Our own individual stories should be viewed with the lens of the biblical story. Our hope is that through this class and your own investigation into the amazing story of God you will have a better understanding of who God is, what He has done, is doing and will do, and what our role in the world is.
