1. Poverty of spirit is the condition that allows us to seek God. We must come to a place when we realize that we need help. For you, poor in spirit is asking God to move in your life. It is a calling on Jesus' name because you have come to realize that life is broken and you cannot overcome on your own. Where are you on this journey? Spend some time talking to Christ about poverty of spirit.
2. What would your reaction be if you entered the presence of God? How do people in Scripture react? Do you think you may mourn parts of your life as you stand before God?
3. God has been exceedingly merciful to you. He allows you to cuss His name and still enjoy this life. When you are "still a long way off" the Father looks for you. The Father is looking for you now, will you allow yourself to be found by Him? If you are a follower of Christ, do not think this offer of mercy is for doubters and seekers alone, you need it just as much. Spend some time sitting in the mercy of Jesus.
