We continue our series in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) by studying the Lord's Prayer. Pastor Tyler Jones explores the idea of praying to a "good Father" in contrast to our understanding of an earthly father.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Matthew 5:48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
The work of Christ: - Justification - Sanctification
Justification: to be made right with God
Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.
Sanctification: to be made Holy
1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Reflection Questions:
If you are a follower of Christ, you have been made right with God, you have been made perfect like Him. This work was done by Christ for you and is a free gift to those who believe. Do you live in these freedoms? Do you pray, knowing that you do not have to grovel in the presence of God? Spend time thanking God for His good gifts of Life to you.
Are you tempted to pretend in life with God? Are you pretending that you do not pretend? God wants you to go to Him in authenticity. If you are angry, pray in that anger; if you are hurting, pray in hurt; if you feel strong, pray in strength. Spend some honest time with God this week.
God is a good Father. He has released you to live your life out. He pursues you endlessly, offering you more and better life. He will forgive you the moment you return as He restores you. Pray to your Father.
