A Light in the Alley 1 Corinthians 3:16-23
Listen to Audio

Paul continues his letter to the church in Corinth with an appeal and warning all in the same blessing. "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?" What an honor! And woe to those who come against God's temple. Who is this directed towards? What is Paul saying to the Corinthians? Join us as Tyler Jones preaches from this passage.

Romans 11:36-12:1 To Him be glory forever. I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Three aspects of worship 1. Glory 2. Devotion 3. Sacrifice

Romans 1:21-25 For although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

Questions for Reflection

  1. What holds the position of glory in your life? How are you devoting yourself to that thing? What sacrifices are you willing to make for it?
  2. If someone was to observe your life, would they conclude that the object of your worship brings you life? How has worshiping created things eroded your soul? When will you worship Jesus?
  3. God loves you enough to bring a time of dismantling into your life so you can find real Life--Jesus Christ. Christ is yours, how will you worship Him?
