How are you living? The reality of being in Christ is that "the old has passed way, behold; the new has come" (2 Corinthians 5:17). Paul addresses the followers of Christ in Corinth to stop living in their old ways. They are resorting to ways of the world when God's kingdom is at work and alive in them. Join us as we study the call to rise above the old ways of sin.
Isaiah 64:6
All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags…
2 Corinthians 12
A thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Theology dictates your autobiography. What do you believe about God? How are you living that belief out? Scripture says Jesus redeemed you for His glory, how does that affect your life?
Paul’s complaint against the Corinthians is in regards to their public bickering. He operates under the assumption that no matter what the “ruling”, a follower will uphold the Gospel. Is this true for us? The essence of our faith is transformation--Jesus changes us. What parts of your life need the transforming power of Jesus? Will you allow Him to change you? How? When?
