What to Expect on Sundays

During each Sunday service, we worship God through singing, teaching, communion and prayer. We are committed to incorporating the word of God into every service, and every message will be based on Scripture. There are 4 components to our Sunday Services:

Worship

Each person who visits us on Sunday mornings worships God with a different heart and from a unique experience. We are glad to know that many of those that come may be only beginning their journey of faith, not sure who Christ is or even what they believe. We desire to be a welcoming place to all, where anyone can come to learn, worship, and grow closer to God. However, this cannot be at the expense of the holiness of God, which calls us to worship Him with nothing less than our lives. All that we do on Sunday, from the preaching to the childcare to the music, is an act of worship. We invite all to join us in giving thanks and praise to God.

Music

Since the attendees of Vintage21 come from different walks of life and faith, our music reflects that. Not believing that worship can be contained in music, and certainly not a specific genre labeled “Praise and Worship,” we have found ways to sing to God that span across taste and style, all the while worshiping Him with honest hearts.

If you’re new with us, you’ll notice a majority of songs are written by artists here at Vintage21. Numerous psalms in the Old Testament encourage us to “sing to Him a new song,” and we truly believe God specifically leads each local church. We also sing from a mix of classic hymns, contemporary worship songs, and songs by Christian artists. Our taste in music is eclectic, ranging from rock to country to bluegrass to Motown – all can be drawn upon to make a joyful noise to the Lord. Reflection and Communion

At the end of each sermon, we have a time of reflection and communion to help us focus on what God has laid on our hearts. A set of “reflection questions” are given to aid us in our time of meditation and prayer. This is a time when you should feel free to pray or think quietly to yourself, but also to turn and talk to a neighbor about what is on your heart.

As we focus on how God is speaking to us and working in our hearts, we must not forget to also meditate on the life and death of Christ on our behalf. Therefore, this is also a time when we take communion. Communion is a way for followers of Christ to reflect on the sacrifice that was made out of love for us all, God giving His Son to pay for the brokenness in our lives.

Offering

Our offering is collected in bins on the walls in the main room. We don’t pass a collection plate because we aren’t interested in your money – we are interested in showing you the redeeming love of Christ and creating an environment for you to meet God. Regular attendees should feel free to give as an act of worship to a giving God. Owners are expected to give willingly and sacrificially back to God, with the understanding that all the earth and everything in it belongs to God, and all that we have is God’s already.
